BEWARE When Buying Bootleg!!!

Ignorance is no excuse of the law and that’s the message head of the Organised Crime Investigative Division (OCID) is now sending out.

Careful how you hawk up those pirated DVDs and CDs, contrary to popular belief, the seller will not be the only person facing prosecution, those who are buying too will also be in trouble with the law.

The police superintendent, who spoke at a press conference to highlight the problems surrounding the act at the Police Officers' Club in St Andrew, said despite the arrest of several people for selling bootleg DVDs and CDS, there was still a high incidence of re-offenders.

"There are challenges in terms of the courts. Even though the fine can be up to $100,000 or two years the judges usually fine offenders $1,000 to $5,000," Bailey said.

Reporters were told that his division was conducting sessions with police officers to ensure that offenders get the message that they will be brought to book.

We have actually started a sensitisation project aimed at educating all formations. Commanders have to be mandated to ensure that the act is enforced," Bailey said.

Bailey said local cinema operators were bleeding red ink as a result of the big market for pirated DVDs."If we are not careful the cinema industry might go under," he said. However, figures showing losses from cinema operators were not immediately available.

Since the start of the year the police have seized more than 50,000 pirated CDs and DVDs and have arrested 70 people.

Seized DVDs and CDs are crushed and destroyed to ensure they do not find their way back on the streets.

Keith ‘Shebada’ Ramsay introduced himself to the comedy market in a big way when he had viewers cracking up in stitches as a competitor on The Comedy Buss. Although he had taken part in other small productions it was the Comedy Buss that told the entire Jamaica he is a talent worth watching. Then came Bashment Granny and also Keith’s meteoric rise to fame!

Yardflex sat down and had a one on one with the super popular actor in a no holds barred interview

How long have you been in the theatre?
Three years now - since 2006

Any Formal training…
No...acting is innate… I started out in church …I did a one man piece on Moses and the Burning Bush -entered regional and national church competitions and came first.

Was acting always a dream for you?
So badly…from I gained knowledge… from the time I could recognize the stars

Why did you choose this career?
It’s a gift so what better way …use your gifts

If you weren’t acting, what other job would you like to do?
I would be doing track and field. While attending Clan Carty High, after school, I started doing track and field for the Church of God which is the church that I now go to….I love track super bad. It helps reduce stress for me. I am excellent at track …if I was still training now I could give Asafa and Bolt a run a for their money!

What plays have you been in?
Bashment Granny 1, Shebada Comes To Town, Like Father Like Son, Di Driver and Bashment Granny 2.

What are your fondest moments?
In Like father Like Son - an actress had diarrhea…I brought it to light onstage and the whole show went in a different direction…changed the situation [laughter]

How has it been working on Bashment Granny?
When I stared out with Bashment 1 I had no idea what I would be up against…Maama Man, Jukie Trevor - he is the master of theatre….when I went on stage for the first time with him it worked beautifully…it’s not a one man show it is a show with a whole body of people with a certain chemistry

Do you get along with all your cast members?
We fight …always fighting…new members just don’t understand the chemistry…it has gotten a lot better…over the past eight months. Call me Michal Jackson call me anything u want but don’t call me broke

Do you ad lib with a lot of your scripts?
Based on what you get you can tell…I don’t want to sound cocky…but I don’t work with scripts
As far as Trevor - he understands me very well…so he is like, ok Shebada I know you got your stuff packed but this is the situation with this actress and actor and so just go ahead and do your thing. I’m reading them – the actresses and actors as well as the audience… and one thing that is not cool is to have an uptight audience every night …like a DJ gotta read the crowd to select his tunes, I also need to read the audience…

Is your character on screen anything like your persona off screen?
I am very shy I like my own stage….the hardest part of entertaining is the end…I need to go into a room an recuperate

How do you feel when you are on stage? Are you nervous or once the lights turn on you’re ready for action?
Never ever nervous…on stage fine, but not in a group of 12 or five persons…then I get inhibited and shy

Are you double jointed?
No - you have a whine called the Chiney wine…remember say me young - me no old and seized up…

You seem to have a lot of fans out there, how do you feel about that?
They’re cool but I need to interact with them more…I am very shy…on a 1 on 1 basis I get nothing done…I need help in that area.

Are you currently in a relationship?
I have somebody …live….but I’m so much afraid of giving a name…I am nervous…[he calls girlfriend…she says go ahead]…her name is Samantha and we call her sex…I call her Sam, Samantha and Sex….we argue so much…we miss each other and that’s why we argue.

I know in this industry you can have negative criticism, does that affect you?
I don’t pay it any mind.

I hear that you’re engaged to a little lady, how is that?
Not engaged yet…

You have any advice for upcoming actors/actresses?
If you have a dream keep your dream alive and don’t let anybody put you in a box or cripple you.

Wizards Of Waverly Place Movie!!!

Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie is the United States television movie of the Disney Channel sitcom,
Wizards of Waverly Place. The movie premiered on August 28, 2009 on the Disney Channel.
The movie was filmed in San Juan, Puerto Rico.


The film follows the Russo family on a trip to the Caribbean, a trip Alex Russo is forced to go on by her mother,
with whom Alex is facing much conflict of lately. As she puts it, she is tired of her mother telling her what to
do; she is now sixteen. She unknowingly uses her family's full-wizard wand to create an alternate reality in which
her parents never met.


After consulting Jerry, who is unaware of his children or his wife's existence and who has his powers
(having never had to give them up to marry Theresa), Justin and Alex set off to find the Stone of Dreams,
which can reverse the spell. They are guided by a street magician and former wizard (who lost the full-wizard
contest to his older brother) named Archie who wants to turn his girlfriend, Giselle, from a parrot back into a human.
Max, meanwhile, stays at the resort to keep his parents from "meeting" other people. Over the course of the day,
Max visibly begins losing his memory, which Jerry told the kids is a symptom of coming extinction due
to never having been born.

R.I.P DJ AM!

Club-owner and celebrity scratcher Adam Goldstein, who was far better known by the moniker DJ AM, was found dead Friday in his New York apartment, E! News has confirmed. He was 36.
Details have been sparse so far, but the New York Fire Department has confirmed that a body was discovered at Goldstein's Lafayette Street address at 5:24 p.m. and was pronounced dead at 6 p.m. The body was not transported from the scene afterward.
The New York Post, citing NYPD insiders, have reported that drug paraphernalia was found near the body. Officials have said they found no evidence of foul play.
"Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment," read a statement released by the late artist's rep. "The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time."
A neighbor told E! News that there were police at the scene when she returned home this afternoon.
"I came home and there were police cars everywhere. My doorman told me someone died in 7A and I knew who it was," she said. "The whole front of the building is filled with police blocking if off with barricades."
"I know he has been here for the last week and a half, but I haven't seen him," she added.
Goldstein, who along with Travis Barker survived a fiery plane crash that killed four others last year, had recently finished shooting an eight-episode series for MTV about addiction, Gone Too Far, in which he opened up about his past struggles with substance abuse.Within minutes of the news breaking, Barker's ex, Shannon Moakler, had tweeted: "My deepest condolences for DJ AM, you were a great artist and will be severely missed. My thoughts and Prayers to his family and friends."

Aidonia Bio

Born Sheldon Aitana Lawrence on April 6, 1981, Aidonia is the second of four children for his mother who was a teacher, and his father an ex-soldier. Originally from the Red Hills Road area, he took his stage name from the first two letters in his middle name 'Aitana', and 'Donia', a name which he earned while playing football.

Aidonia attended Mona Heights Primary, then Meadowbrook High School where he had the misfortune of being expelled (for keeping 'bad company') while in 6th Form. It was from as far back as 1994, while still attending Meadowbrook, that Aidonia's special love for music began. After watching a tape of Sting 1993 with the infamous clash between Beenie Man, and his icon Bounty Killer, Aidonia immediately got his mind set on becoming a deejay.

Soon after watching the Sting 1993 tape, he began re-enacting the clash for classmates and friends, many of whom recognised his talent from as far back as then. He started writing his own lyrics and formed the JAG1 (Jah A Guide) crew with friends. JAG1 or JOP (Jag One Productions) were often referred to when they were performing at school concerts and fetes.

After being expelled, he relocated to the United States with his father, and started working at FedEx. For the next three years, he would visit Jamaica regularly, and did a few 'minor' things on the dancehall scene in New York. While in New York, he was encouraged by some to return to Jamaica in order to get his career going; he did just that.

He met Mr. G (then known as Goofy) and recorded his first single 'Many a Dem' in October 2003 on Goofy's Young Blood label. Soon after, he began working with Rod Pinnock of Orizen Entertainment, and in early 2004, he became a popular performer at a weekly event called "Battle Thursdays", where he got some recognition and also had an opportunity to work on his performance skills.

In the latter part of 2004, Aidonia was approached by Cordell "Skatta"' Burrell who invited him to record at his studio. Two months later, Aidonia had his first bonafide hit, the song "Lolly" which was done on Skatta's Irish Dance riddim. In October 2005, news broke that "Lolly" was included on VP Records' annual Strictly The Best (Volume 33) compilation.

More hits followed from 2005 into 2006, including "Chicken Head", "Prayer", "Inna Di Ghetto", "Eagle", "Ooku", "Unknown Assailant" and "Kingfish Ah Come". He also fulfilled one of his goals of working with Bounty Killer, when he recorded "Sen Fi Dem".

More recently, he has had "Reload" on the Redbull & Guiness riddim, "Bukam" on the Billback riddim and "Wine" on the Tremor riddim.

Keith 'Shebada' Ramsey, in a big 'mix -up!!!!!!

She-na-bada...Actor's Wedding A Fraud

Much like the character he plays in the hilarious roots play, Bashment Granny, Keith 'Shebada' Ramsey, has found himself in the middle of a big 'mix -up'.

In a classic case of life imitating art, Shebada is now involved in a dramatic, 'he said/she said' saga filled with accusations of lies, secrets and manipulation.

One week after he announced that he was getting married, the woman identified as his fiancée, Keisha Shaw, is denying that there is an engagement and said the two are not even a couple. She claimed Ramsey used her name to dispell rumours that he was gay. He, however, maintained that they shared a relationship and are in love.

Shaw told THE STAR that Ramsey practically begged her to tell journalists that they were getting engaged. "They had the play in some bad area and apparently some people planned to shoot it up, so he called me sounding like he was about to cry an seh 'mi a beg you do sumting fi mi. A guy gon call you from the Gleaner and you must tell im dat we gettin married'. So I said, are you crazy, are you out of your mind and he was saying, 'please, please'." She said she told Ramsey that she would not lie.

She continued, "So, I'm in my bed sleeping and I got a text from a friend saying 'Mrs. Ramsey, how u never invite mi to the wedding'. So I called my friend and heard dat it was big, big in di paper and I burst out in tears." She said she called Ramsey and "ask him how he could do dat. I said dats so wicked of you. He told me dat I can't do anything about it and no one would believe me."

Though initial reports said Shaw was 19, THE STAR has learnt that she is only 17 years old. The two met shortly after Shaw came to Jamaica from overseas. Her sister told THE STAR that they met about two months ago at one of the plays and exchanged numbers. A friendship developed, but according to the sister, this fizzled when Shaw learnt of the rumours. "They didn't go out at all. She only went to about two of the plays and to be truthful, her interest lies somewhere else right now."

Shaw says the report has affected her life in many ways. "I come to work everyday and I hear it. My frens keep calling me an saying it big, big on the radio. I told him not to do it, but just because im want to cover up himself, he's using my name. We were just friends. I just want my name to be cleared. We're not together and that's it."

But although Shaw is adamant that she and Ramsey were never together, he insists they are together but are only going through a rough patch now. "We met about 6 - 7 months ago, but we're going through some problems. We're not on speaking terms now. She is intensely jealous and she claims that I am very wild, but we are man and woman .. wi deh up."

Ramsey is also denying claims that he only used Shaw's name to escape the gay rumours. "I have no need to use anybody's name or to seek publicity and I don't have any tracks to cover up. I'm not a fugitive, I don't have to hide. I don't have to use Keisha's name, I have nothing hiding. If a man a seh mi gay, is promotion and if dem a seh mi nuh gay, is promotion."

He said Shaw was a willing partner in their relationship and revealed that they only began having problems when her family found out that they were together. He also said Shaw told him that she was 19. "She didn't have any reason to lie about her age, cause I never hold a gun to her head."

He said he surprised her with the engagement by simply calling her and telling her that he had told reporters that she was going to be his wife. "We spoke about it before and she was okay. But when it came out she seh people at her work a seh 'x' and she get rickety, so mi a seh if a people a work and wi deh."

Ramsey, who did not wish to disclose his age, told THE STAR that he is still interested in marrying Shaw and said, "We have no concrete plans. If she is up to it, it's fine. If she's not, it's fine. It's just fine. I'm not in the mood to be stressed. I'm not a child. You talk to me and tell me one thing and then you change your mouth. Keisha is just a child."

Wizards Vs. Vampires

The first part of the vampire saga on "Wizards of Waverly Place" is previewed. Disney Channel will air 4 episodes that welcome a vampire family to the neighborhood, starting with "Wizards vs. Vampires on Waverly Place" that airs Friday, July 24.

When a new sandwich shop (the Late Night Bite) opens in Waverly Place, Justin falls in love with the owner's daughter, Juliet. But when his family finds out that they are vampires both parents say they can't date. Bridgit Mendler guest stars as Juliet.

Meanwhile, Alex tries to get rid of Max because of his annoying impressions and tries to send him to a camp, but her plan blows up when Justin finally tells his parents about him and Juliet. In the end, both parents allow them to date each other again.

The other three episodes that involve vampires will be aired in the next few weeks. There will be "Wizards vs. Vampires: Tasty Bites", "Wizards vs. Vampires: Dream Date" and "Wizards & Vampires vs. Zombies" airing on July 31, August 7 and August 14 respectively.

Shelley-Ann Fraser has defended her title in the women's 100m with her latest win at in Berlin on Monday.

Kanye West thinks he can fill the void left by Michael Jackson and become the next 'King of Pop'.

Kanye West wants to become the next Michael Jackson.
The 'Love Lockdown' star believes he is capable of ascending to the musical throne the 'King of Pop' has left following his death in June.
Kanye told Scrape TV: "You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change. It's so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new 'King of Pop' and I'm willing to take that on.
"There's nobody who can match me in sales and so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael's crown and become the new 'King'."
The hip-hop star also likened himself to another 'King' - Elvis Presley.
He said: "First there was Elvis, then there was Michael, now in the 21st century it is Kanye's time to rule.
"I have nothing but respect for Michael but someone needs to pick up where he left off and there's nobody better than me to do that. I am the new King of Pop."
